not sure exactly what the max is (160 like with comments?) but it seems quite limiting. i think it also results in a bug where empty asks get sent because the text went over the limit, but somehow the ask still gets processed?

We just released a new version with support for this.
In your profiles there now is a new option "Allow long questions" which removes the character limit from questions to you entirely!

I saw the “fix” suggested but frankly it is not enough. Other ask platforms support longer asks, I don’t see why it would be such a problem to allow longer asks. The limit should at least be doubled to 1024 characters.

fairytunes: 512 is the current upper limit, but we're planning to add an option for users so that they can allow others to ask them questions that are practically infinitely long.

The current character limit for questions is 512 characters. We have already decided on a way of allowing longer questions https://github.com/Retrospring/retrospring/issues/311#issuecomment-1015171245
